“Gambang” is the generic term for multi-octave gamelan tuned-bar instruments (xylophones and metallophones) the keys of which are arranged in a scalar fashion over a shared trough-like resonating space. The bars on a gambang are usually sounded with two beaters, one held in each hand of the performer.
